We Appreciate Russia's Efforts, The War Was Stopped by Them: Foreign Minister

Russia continues to remain our strategic ally, and we truly appreciate that, because, ultimately, the war was stopped thanks to Russia's efforts, stated Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan during a session of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

“I do not agree that Armenia and its foreign policy today depend on Russia. Russia continues to be our strategic ally, and we truly appreciate it, because, after all, the war was stopped thanks to Russia's efforts. Some may not like this fact, but it is true. Otherwise, we would be facing an entirely different situation,” the minister said.

He also noted that it was not only Russia that was trying to ensure a ceasefire, but also France and the United States. “Why it didn’t work out is a subject for deeper analysis,” Ara Ayvazyan added.

He also mentioned that the CSTO occupies an important place in Armenia's overall security architecture.
