Very difficult situation, said Gayané Sahakyan, Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Armenia, presenting the COVID-19 statistics of the country. She informed that the bed capacity is nearly exhausted.
"We are experiencing approximately a 90 percent increase in infections. We expect more than 7000 new cases in the upcoming week," Sahakyan stated. She noted that everything is being done to ensure vaccinations begin next week.
"Our hospital system is quite burdened, the bed capacity is almost depleted, and we are facing an increase in disease by about 90 percent. The transmission rate of the virus is currently at 1.2. This means we expect more than 7000 new cases in the upcoming week," Sahakyan said. According to her, this increase in cases will completely deplete the bed capacity, leading to a return of hospitalization queues.
