Nearly 6000 Families to Receive Housing in Artsakh, Funded by the ‘Armenia’ Foundation
On March 25, a consultation took place at the Government of the Republic of Armenia, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Republic of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan, with the participation of numerous members of the governments of both Armenia and Artsakh, as well as the Executive Director of the Armenia All-Armenian Fund, Haikak Arshamyan. This meeting focused on the socio-economic issues in Artsakh.
During the meeting, the urgent necessity of implementing a housing and infrastructure restoration program in Artsakh was emphasized. Within the framework of this program, approximately 6000 families will be provided with housing, and necessary infrastructures will be created and restored. The President of Artsakh noted that preliminary estimates indicate that around 110 billion AMD is required for the program.
This program, alongside ongoing initiatives, will facilitate the return of all displaced families to the Republic of Artsakh. The Prime Minister expressed the willingness of the Armenian government to support the aforementioned program, suggesting that it be implemented in collaboration with the Armenia All-Armenian Fund.
The Fund will present a proposal to allocate funds collected during the “We Are Our Borders” fundraising campaign, which currently amounts to about 58 billion AMD in the accounts of Armenian banks and local authorities operating abroad.
Furthermore, the Government expressed its readiness to allocate an additional 52 billion AMD to the program through transfers to the Fund, taking into consideration the financial support provided to the Republic of Armenia by the Fund during the war. President Arayik Harutyunyan welcomed the proposal.
As a result of the meeting, it was also decided that the Artsakh government will soon present a detailed description of the program planned for 2021-2024, and the implementation issues will be discussed between the Armenian government and the Fund.
