Egg Prices Will Decrease, Says ARAEC President

Egg prices are expected to drop before Easter, announced Gegham Gevorgyan, President of the Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (ARAEC), during a press conference with journalists.

"Economic operators have reported that starting today, they will supply eggs in bulk, and prices will be reduced," he stated.

Gevorgyan also informed that on March 30, an investigation will be launched concerning major operators in the egg market to determine whether there is an actual egg shortage or if it is artificially created. The investigation will look into whether an intermediary organization is creating this artificial deficit, if there is an anti-competitive agreement, or if there is an abuse of a dominant position affecting price increases.

"It is evident that there are individuals making large-volume purchases that are not intended for consumer purposes," noted the ARAEC president.
