We Haven't Discussed the Elections Issue: Galust Sahakyan

The former Speaker of the National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan, does not believe that parliamentary snap elections will be held on June 20. Sahakyan expressed his opinion during a brief conversation with journalists at the Komitas Pantheon.

The ruling Republican Party (HHK) leadership visited the Pantheon to pay tribute to the memory of former Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan, who passed away on March 25, 2007.

“We haven’t discussed the elections issue; at least not only we, but everyone believes that the HHK will have the most significant stance,” Sahakyan stated.

He noted that there has been no discussion regarding participation in the elections or whether to form an alliance with any other party.

According to Sahakyan, the main issue for the HHK is to preserve the Armenian people with its statehood. “God willing, may people come to power who cherish the Armenian nation,” Sahakyan said.

When asked if there are such people, Sahakyan responded, “Of course, there are.”
