Prime Minister and Iraqi Defense Minister Discuss Strengthening Military-Technical Cooperation
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Iraq, Jumaa Inad Saadoon Khattabi. This was reported by the press office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, which noted that the Prime Minister welcomed the visit of the Iraqi Defense Minister to Armenia, emphasizing that our country views Iraq as a reliable partner based on strong historical and cultural ties.
Pashinyan highly appreciated the attention shown by the Iraqi authorities to the local Armenian population, which allows the Armenian diaspora to maintain its religious values and contribute to the country's development.
According to Jumaa Inad Saadoon Khattabi, the Iraqi government is interested in further expanding its relations with Armenia. He emphasized the importance of developing cooperation and exchanging experiences in the armed forces sector.
In this context, the interlocutors discussed several issues related to the intensification of cooperation in the military-technical and military-medical fields and highlighted the importance of signing a relevant memorandum between the defense departments of the two countries in Yerevan.
Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the Armenian government appreciates the balanced position of the Iraqi authorities regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. He also referred to the development of economic ties with Iraq and expressed hope that the upcoming meeting of the intergovernmental commission, scheduled for this year, would foster new momentum for trade and economic relations.
The Prime Minister of Armenia and the Iraqi Defense Minister also exchanged views on other regionally significant topics.
