Life Imprisonment for State Traitors and Spies in Armenia: Draft Legislation
The National Assembly of Armenia has approved a bill proposed by the Prosperous Armenia faction. According to this legislation, individuals found guilty of treason will face 15 to 20 years of property confiscation or life imprisonment (previously, the penalties ranged from 10 to 15 years).
For espionage, the proposed penalties include 12 to 20 years of imprisonment or a life sentence (previously set at 8 to 15 years).
The draft law was presented by members of the Prosperous Armenia faction, Vahe Enfiadjian, Naira Zohrabyan, and Iveta Tonoyan.
