Government Decides to Increase Police Salaries
The government decided at today’s meeting to increase the salaries of employees in the urban and regional departments of the police’s Patrol Service.
“The current monthly salary figures for new recruits in the Patrol Service’s units under the police department of Yerevan city and the regional departments, with service experience of 0-2 years or 2-5 years, according to the government decisions No. 710-N and No. 712-N of 03.07.2014, are 190,552 drams and 192,921 drams, respectively,” the draft decision stated.
If the proposed increases are approved, the monthly salaries for new junior patrol officers will be 320,000 drams for those with 0-2 years of service experience, representing an increase of 129,448 drams or 67.9% from the current 190,552 drams, and 325,584 drams for those with 2-5 years of experience, which is an increase of 132,663 drams or 68.8% from the current 192,921 drams.
The monthly salary for a police officer with the rank of lieutenant, having 2-5 years of service, is proposed to be set at 371,373 drams, exceeding the current highest figures for the Patrol Service (4th Special Battalion personnel) by 78,654 drams, or 26.9%, and surpassing the standard salary for regular patrol service personnel by 183,054 drams, or 97.2%.
Similarly, the monthly salary for a patrol officer with the rank of senior lieutenant and 5-10 years of experience is set to be 402,181 drams, which is 88,265 drams or 28.1% more than the aforementioned highest figure, and 198,565 drams or 97.5% more than the regular figure, etc.,” the draft noted.
