Gegham Stepanyan Elected as Artsakh's Human Rights Defender

The National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh has just elected Gegham Stepanyan as the Human Rights Defender. Former President of the Artsakh National Assembly, Ashot Ghulyan, shared this news on his Facebook page.

“I am extremely happy, but not so much for Gegham as for our country. Even if with difficulty, our cultured and educated young Artsakh citizens are able to pave their way through their work and exemplary behavior. Gegham's speech from the Assembly podium is already a concrete proof of the fact that, in him, we have a seriously prepared and highly responsible young political figure. Such individuals are needed in our time, especially for the increasingly important position of the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh,” he wrote.

“To maintain the good mood of myself and thousands of Artsakh citizens, I do not want to comment on those who voted against his candidacy, but I advise them to seriously consider their role,” he added.
