Military Structure and Armenian-Russian Relations Should Adjust to Existing Threats, Ministry of Defense

The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, addressed the ongoing reforms in the military. According to him, the geopolitical situation in the region has changed after the war. "Today, we are dealing with a Turkish-Azerbaijani army that is increasingly merging, and de facto we are facing the Turkish army. It is natural that in order to prevent this threat, we must adjust the structure of our army and Armenian-Russian relations to this emerging threat. These reforms are aimed at that," the minister stated during a Q&A session with government officials in the National Assembly.

Harutyunyan also commented on the situation surrounding the position of the Chief of General Staff, emphasizing, "We have one Chief of General Staff, and we have generals who have previously served as Chiefs of General Staff."
