The Delay in the Return of Prisoners by Azerbaijan Does Not Aim to Build Sustainable Peace, Says MP
The delay in the return of prisoners of war by Azerbaijan is intentionally aimed at undermining the establishment of long-term sustainable peace, stated Tatevik Hayrapetyan, an MP from the 'My Step' faction in the National Assembly, as reported by Armenpress.
Hayrapetyan recalled that Hadrut and Shushi, integral parts of Nagorno-Karabakh, are currently under Azerbaijani occupation. "The policy of destroying peaceful communities in Artsakh, the devastation of cultural heritage, the elimination of the Armenian population, and the establishment of Azerbaijani settlements in their place, along with the deliberate postponement of the return of prisoners of war, is certainly not aimed at building long-term sustainable peace," she stated, adding that despite the Armenian side's commitment to peace, peace cannot be one-sided.
She emphasized that the adversary's handwriting remains unchanged. "How accurately we, as a state and community, assess this, draw lessons from history to avoid repetition, and adequately respond to existing challenges and consider possible opportunities will also be reflected in the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections within the context of the discourses and agendas presented by political forces," the MP concluded.
