“Such lies were not even heard from Sharmazanov and Ashotyan.” Daniel Ioannisyan

Daniel Ioannisyan, founder of the ‘Civil Society’ NGO and member of the Public Council, wrote on his Facebook page: “Georgi Gorgisyan announced in parliament a little while ago that a consensus was reached in the National Assembly in 2018 that the Electoral Code should establish an open proportional electoral system (probably referring to the nationwide rating electoral system they proposed), and that ‘Daniel Ioannisyan thwarted this consensus, and because of him, the code was not adopted.’ This kind of lie hasn’t even been heard from Sharmazanov and Ashotyan.

In 2018, the government program stipulated a regular proportional electoral system. This was a continuation of the consensus reached by civil society and numerous political forces back in 2016. The ruling Civil Contract Party, Prosperous Armenia, and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation were clearly in favor. The Republican Party of Armenia was sometimes for and sometimes against.
“Bright Armenia” proposed a nationwide rating electoral system, but even they did not insist on that approach and ultimately voted in favor of the regular proportional system. It’s disgusting. Simply disgusting.”
