Male Body Discovered in Yerevan Lake, City Police Chief at Scene
Today, March 22, an emergency incident occurred in Yerevan. At approximately 12:20 PM, the Emergency Situations Ministry's rescue service and the Yerevan city police's operational management centers received a call reporting a body in Yerevan Lake.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, a special rescue team from the Emergency Situations Ministry quickly arrived, led by the head of the rescue team Albert Martirosyan and diver Harutyun Harutyunyan.
Sevan Kocharyan, head of the Yerevan city police, was also present at the site. The diver retrieved the body from the lake using a special cable, and a forensic doctor is currently working at the scene. A team from the Yerevan city investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia has also arrived, led by the head of the investigative division Simon Harutyunyan and senior investigator Artak Hakinyan who specializes in particularly important cases.
Police and the investigative department are working to identify the deceased. The photojournalist also reports that the arrival of several police department heads is related to the possibility that the man was murdered and then thrown into the river, which has carried him into the lake.
