Individual Posing as Journalist Steals Large Sums from Several Citizens Under Pretext of Helping Soldier
Investigations are underway in the Eghegnadzor Division of the Police based on operational information received at the department.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, residents of Eghegnadzor, 68-year-old Haik I., 61-year-old Khachik M., 39-year-old Nane A., and 69-year-old Khachik G. have been summoned to the police station.
According to media reports, operational information was received indicating that an individual named Arthur presented himself to the mentioned persons as a journalist and, under the pretext of helping a soldier, deceitfully exploited the trust of these individuals. Using the iDram system, he stole 60,000 AMD from Haik I., 110,000 AMD from Khachik M., 80,000 AMD from Nane A., and initially took 30,000 AMD from Khachik G., subsequently attempting to extort an additional 40,000 AMD, although Khachik G. did not provide the extra amount.
The police are taking necessary measures to identify the individual posing as a journalist, Arthur, and to recover the stolen money.
