Azerbaijan's Armed Forces Have Implemented Ethnic Cleansing and Genocide Policies: Human Rights Defender
During the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council on March 19, a special video address of the Armenian Human Rights Defender was broadcast, stating that during the war from September to November 2020, the Azerbaijani armed forces executed policies of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
The video address emphasized the presence of a policy of anti-Armenianism supported by the authorities in Azerbaijan, which is encouraged by cultural, sports, and other public figures. This is substantiated by objective evidence.
The address highlighted that from September 27 onwards, monitoring of Azerbaijani and Turkish media and social networks recorded mass hate speech, calls for killings, violence, and torture, targeting also Armenian children.
Crimes motivated by ethnic affiliation against Armenians are encouraged by Azerbaijani authorities, as confirmed by European Court of Human Rights rulings.
“P.S. Only national human rights institutions endowed with 'A' international status have the opportunity to present such video addresses,” it was noted in the statement.
