Syunik Mayors on A. Simonian's Statement: 'The Syunik People Have Shown Their Attitude Towards the Authorities'

At a press conference of the newly established "Reviving Armenia" party, the mayors of Syunik addressed the statement made by the Vice President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, claiming that the "Civil Contract" party would garner more votes in the regions, including Syunik, than in Yerevan.

Manvel Paramazyan, the mayor of Kajaran, stated, "When they say, 'A camel does not see its own hump,' this is their own situation. Syunik has always been united; there can be no other opinion. We feel pain for Syunik; every time we enter Syunik, passing under the flags of Azerbaijan is stressful. In the elections, the people of Syunik will show their Nzhdehian stance."

Mkhitar Zakaryan, the mayor of Meghri, noted, "We are Syunik people, our honor and dignity are paramount, and in this regard, I consider responding to Alen Simonian's question to be beneath my dignity, given his past activities." He added that if Simonian's assertion of forming a majority becomes reality, he would consider it a failure to recognize his own people. "I don't think they would take risks crossing dangerous areas. Their type is one that flees from danger," he pointed out.

Arush Arushanyan, the mayor of Goris, remarked, "I believe Alen Simonian's statement is not worth commenting on; time will reveal the truth. I think the people of Syunik have already shown their attitude toward the current authorities."
