Secret Method: Traders Discover Way to Sell Turkish Goods

In Armenia, traders have found a new way to sell Turkish clothing by changing the labels on the garments. In a verbal conversation with the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, traders did not hide this fact, stating that they have no other option. Meanwhile, as of January 1st of this year, the import of goods from Turkey to Armenia, including clothing and footwear, is prohibited.

Despite the ban, the local market continues to be flooded with shoes and clothing of Turkish origin, but labeled as Chinese. It should be noted that Turkey does not show official trade statistics with Armenia; this is done through Georgia. Turkish clothing and footwear are brought in under the name of Georgian or other companies.

Recently, however, our traders have started importing Turkish-origin clothing through Russia, where the labels are changed to Chinese ones, and sometimes items are imported without labels at all. By the way, yesterday, during a conversation with the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, one of the companies involved in this trade indicated that they are waiting for the government-imposed sanctions to end, after which the route to Turkey will be reopened.
