Russia Hopes for a Constructive Atmosphere During Pre-Electoral Period in Armenia
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has commented on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's announcement regarding the holding of early parliamentary elections on June 20. During a press briefing, Zakharova stated that Russia views the decision to conduct early parliamentary elections in Armenia in 2021 as an internal matter of the country.
“We have noted that the parties have managed to agree on the date of the elections. We hope that the pre-electoral period will be characterized by a constructive atmosphere aimed at achieving long-term results,” said Zakharova.
The announcement of early parliamentary elections in Armenia for June 20 was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on March 18, following discussions with the leader of the Prosperous Armenia faction, Gagik Tsarukyan, and earlier discussions with the President of Armenia and leaders of the My Step faction and the Bright Armenia faction, Edmon Marukyan.
