No one has the right to insult or use physical force against journalists, Tonoyan
The latest blatant manifestation of the authorities' impunity, arrogance, and lack of decorum, which, of course, will not be condemned by prominent representatives of the power. This is stated by Iveta Tonoyan, a member of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia faction, referring to the incident between Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan and journalist Paylak Fahradyan.
“In broad daylight, a person referred to as a minister attacks a journalist with fists, uses violence, and damages property... Agree that those who shout about democracy all day have a strange idea of democracy and, in general, tolerance. Remember forever that, though it has become commonplace for you to wave fists and threats randomly in various directions, no one, absolutely no one has the right to insult or, even more so, use physical force against journalists. Let that ring in your ears…” wrote Tonoyan.
It should be noted that today journalist Paylak Fahradyan announced live on Facebook that Minister Hakob Arshakyan attacked him in a café. “I approached to ask the minister why he was in a café during working hours, and just minutes later, Minister Hakob Arshakyan attacked me. The incident occurred at one of Yerevan's operating cafés when I saw the minister spending working hours in the café, I approached and asked why he decided to spend his working hours there,” the journalist disclosed.
