David Galstyan's 'Patron David' Case to be Heard by the Ruler's Loyal Judge: 'Hraparak'
David Galstyan's 'Patron David' detention case is once again under the jurisdiction of Mnatsakan Martirosyan. The lawyers have requested the application of bail and were very surprised to learn that the well-known order-executor of the authorities, Matzo, will be reviewing the case again.
When they inquired why the case is being assigned to the same judge, they were informed that there are state secrets involved in this case, and not all judges have the right to consider such matters. In Yerevan, only two judges can handle cases involving state secrets: Mnatsakan Martirosyan and Mesrop Makyan.
We asked Karen Poladyan, the head of the Judicial Department, how many judges have the authority to review cases involving state secrets. He stated that across Armenia, 37 judges are authorized to consider cases containing secrets. Out of these 37, only one is regional, while 36 operate as judges in Yerevan.
Essentially, Galstyan's lawyers have been misled, as it has been decided that the case should be examined by the judge loyal to the authorities.
