There is No Gas Pipeline Between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ministry Clarifies

There is no gas pipeline between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia in response to a question from "Haykakan Zhamanak".

It is noteworthy that Russian media report that the supply of Russian gas to Armenia will temporarily be conducted through Azerbaijani territory. They have re-published the official announcement from Gazprom Export LLC regarding the planned preventive and repair works on the "North Caucasus - Transcaucasia" gas pipeline, during which Russian gas will be supplied to consumers via Azerbaijani territory.

During our conversation with the Ministry, they stated: "The issue of receiving gas from Azerbaijani territory has never been discussed by the Republic of Armenia. Armenia receives gas through Georgia via the Red Bridge-Sevkar-Berd main gas pipeline."

The ministry's response essentially indicates that the change in supply is being implemented by Russia, and Armenia receives gas directly from the country it had been receiving it from before, namely Georgia.

According to Russian media, a contract was signed a few days ago between Gazprom Export LLC and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, stating that the transit will last for three weeks, after which gas transportation will revert to its previous route through Russia and Georgia.
