Part of Georgia Left Without Electricity

Due to a failure in the electricity system, some districts of Tbilisi and several regions of Georgia were left without electricity for an hour. Immediately after the incident, the Telasi energy distribution company, which supplies the capital with power, informed journalists that a systemic disruption had occurred and that they still did not have information about the scale of the problem, reports Novosti-Georgia.

Later, the State Energy System company clarified that the 400 kV 'Meskheti' power transmission line, which connects Georgia's electricity system with Turkey's, was disconnected, resulting in the suspension of electricity imports from Turkey. As a result of the incident, electricity supply was limited across much of the country.

'At this stage, the electricity supply to consumers is gradually being resumed. We apologize for the inconvenience,' stated the message from the State Energy System.
