Baku and Tbilisi to Become Sister Cities
Work on the memorandum to establish sister city relations between Baku and Tbilisi is nearing completion. The initiative is being undertaken by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia, as reported by the Georgia Online portal.
Tbilisi Deputy Mayor Andria Basilayan stated that the city administration is keen to elevate the quality of relations between the capital of Georgia and Baku, a friendly and brotherly city in Azerbaijan.
Since 1997, Baku and Tbilisi have been partner cities. The industrial cities of Azerbaijan and Georgia, Sumgayit and Rustavi, became sister cities in 1952.
