Armenia's Economy Continues to Decline: Concerning Figures

Armenia's economy continues to experience a downturn, as evidenced by official statistics. According to data published by the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," key macroeconomic indicators characterizing the Armenian economy from 2019 to 2021 reveal concerning trends. For instance, the economic activity index in January 2021 was 92.5% compared to the same period in 2020, whereas in January 2020, it was 109.2% compared to January 2019.

Another significant indicator is trade turnover, which reached 186,933.0 million drams in June 2021, representing a decrease of 20,396.2 million drams compared to the same month in 2020, and a drop of 868.6 million drams compared to June 2019.

The number of job seekers stood at 88,929 as of January 2021, which is an increase of 3,543 individuals or 4.1% compared to January 2020, and 7,015 individuals or 8.6% more than in January 2019.

The average monthly number of officially registered unemployed individuals was 61,757 in January 2021, which is a decrease of 247 or 0.4% compared to January 2020, and 2,874 or 4.4% lower than in January 2019. This indicates that the failures of the current authorities are reflected year after year in official statistics.
