Peace Built on the Destruction of Artsakh and the Annihilation of its Armenian Population Cannot Be Stable and Lasting, Says Armenian Foreign Minister

Peace cannot be stable and lasting when it is built on the destruction of peaceful settlements in Artsakh, including the Hadrut region, the annihilation of the Armenian population, and the establishment of Azerbaijani settlements in their place. Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan stated this during a press conference with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, as reported by Armenpress.

He emphasized that Armenia has consistently advocated for peaceful resolution throughout all phases of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Even now, Armenia acknowledges the possibilities that peace and true reconciliation can bring to the region, but he stressed that peace is not just a beautiful word.

“Armenia and the Armenian people have always and sincerely conveyed a message of peace. Having survived the first genocide of the 20th century, we understand the value of peace and security. Armenia has advocated exclusively for a peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue throughout all phases of the conflict. Today, we fully recognize the opportunities that peace and genuine reconciliation can bring to our region, but peace is not merely a beautiful word.

The peace built on the destruction of peaceful settlements in Artsakh, including the Hadrut region, the annihilation of the Armenian population, and the establishment of Azerbaijani communities in their place cannot be stable and lasting. We will continue our fight for just and dignified peace, closely cooperating with our international partners,” the Armenian Foreign Minister concluded.
