NSS Comments on Reports of UNICEF Representative's 'Espionage' for Azerbaijan
The National Security Service of Armenia reported that there are no available data regarding the alleged espionage activities of Mariann Clark-Hatting, the UNICEF representative in Armenia, on behalf of Azerbaijan and Great Britain.
This statement was provided in response to a written inquiry by Sputnik Armenia. Recently, significant controversy arose over claims circulating online that Clark-Hatting had left Armenia due to accusations of espionage.
Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan stated that Clark-Hatting's assignment in Armenia has been terminated because her performance of duties had raised concerns with the Armenian side due to her non-cooperative working style and failures in carrying out her mandate.
The NSS was also asked whether they were conducting any investigations regarding the reports of Mariann Clark-Hatting's espionage. They responded, stating that "the NSS carries out its tasks daily within the framework of the powers granted to it by law."
