More than half of state purchases by current authorities are made from a single source

State purchases made from a single source have significantly increased compared to 2017, according to economist Tadevos Avetisyan in an interview with "Fact". He stated, "These are the purchases that are problematic not only from the perspective of the principles and programmatic approaches they claim, but also, overall, in terms of risks." He added that the purchasing method, which is legally permissible only in exceptional cases, has grown by about 54 percent from 2017 to 2019.

"More than half of state purchases by the current authorities are made from a single source. As for the final figures for 2020, they are still not available, but naturally, the negative trend has deepened, and we are likely to see a higher figure in this regard. Single-source purchases are inherently high-risk because there is no competition. Even if there are no corruption risks—on which I cannot be sure—single-source purchasing is not the market's competitive and primary form. In general, it can be assumed that there are at least grounds for inefficient spending here. This needs to be thought about. Instead of reducing inefficient state expenditures, they are cutting the expenses that are objectively necessary given the current situation," Avetisyan noted. This was reported by the newspaper "Fact."
