Cistern Overturns on Kapan-Goris Highway
On March 16, at 03:54, the Syunik regional crisis management center received information that a cistern from the Islamic Republic of Iran had overturned on the Kapan-Goris highway, resulting in a fuel leak and requiring the assistance of rescuers. This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia.
An operational group from the regional rescue department and two fire and rescue units were dispatched to the scene. It was found that on the 25th kilometer of the Kapan-Goris highway, a "Scania" cistern (driver: Smail Makdi) with a trailer (carrying 22 tons of fuel) had overturned, causing a fuel leak. The specified section of the road is blocked in one direction, but there are no reported injuries.
For safety reasons, the traffic police and rescuers have closed the Shurnukh-Chayzami section of the M-2 highway. Rescue teams have disconnected the vehicle from the power supply.
