Agreement Reached with Iranian Side on Return of Airplane; Technical Issues Mentioned by NSS Deputy Director

Negotiations are underway with the Iranian side regarding the return of a Boeing airplane belonging to Fly Armenia Airways, which landed in Iran. This was stated during a press briefing with journalists by the Deputy Director of the National Security Service (NSS), Tigran Harutyunyan.

“An agreement has been reached with the Iranian side on the return of the airplane; however, technical issues have arisen,” he noted.

Harutyunyan also mentioned that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 221 of the Criminal Code (hijacking of an aircraft) concerning the aircraft's seizure.

The NSS Deputy Director also addressed the ongoing processes in Syunik, assuring that the NSS border troops are resolving their issues within the limits of available human and material resources, stating that there are no insurmountable problems in Syunik.
