We Are Ready for Discussions and Practical Steps Regarding Early Elections: Lilit Makunts
Our position has not changed: we have stated that we are open to discussions and ready for practical steps regarding early parliamentary elections. This was announced by Lilit Makunts, the head of the "My Step" faction in the National Assembly, in a conversation with Factor.am.
“In the past week, negotiations have been ongoing between the Prime Minister and the leaders of other factions, and the finalization will take place in the coming days. We hope to discuss how we will move forward. In any case, we have expressed our political will to go for early elections through consensus,” said Lilit Makunts.
According to L. Makunts, regarding the process itself, early elections have their own procedures, which, in her opinion, have been indicated by the opposition factions. “During the negotiations, we need to understand that they agree on early elections. You know that we have presented the electoral code, and if there are objections or comments, we are ready to discuss them as well,” she noted.
Lilit Makunts could not comment on the timing of the elections since it is still unclear how negotiations with the opposition factions will proceed, and their position on this issue is not known. The head of the "My Step" faction confirmed the fact of a meeting between the faction and the Prime Minister the day before at the government summer residence but did not provide details, explaining that the meeting was closed.
