Bayramov Distorts Reality During Meeting with OSCE President, MP Says

The statement made by Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov regarding prisoners of war during a meeting with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, is nothing more than a distortion of reality. This was noted by MP Nazeli Baghdasaryan on her Facebook page.

"The manipulation of facts and circumstances, and the use of the terms 'sapper' or 'terrorist' against our compatriots is unacceptable. I want to specifically emphasize that the requirement of the 8th point of the trilateral statement of November 9 refers to all individuals held in Azerbaijan, regardless of the date of captivity, and thus applies to all individuals forcibly held in both belligerent countries. The above proves that they exclusively hold the status of captives. Reaffirming the Armenian side's position, I find it necessary to reiterate that any criminal prosecution against captives is baseless and contradicts the norms of international humanitarian law.

It is a fact that the capture of 64 individuals from Khzraberd and Hin Tagh during peaceful conditions after the signing of the trilateral statement contradicts the logic of the signed document. The international community must continue to exert pressure on Azerbaijan, as the unnecessary prolongation of our compatriots' repatriation is a clear violation of universal and human values," she stated.
