Roads Closed and Difficult to Navigate in Armenia, Reports MES
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads across Armenia.
The following roads are closed: the Vardenyats Pass, the Berd-Jambarak road in the Tavush region, and the Kndevaz-Jermuk road in the Vayots Dzor region. Additionally, the roads from Zar to Sevaberd in Kotayk, intercommunity roads in the regions of Ashotsk and Amassia in Shirak, the Dilijan serpentine (for trucks with trailers), and the roads leading from the ‘Amberd’ high-mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and to Karch Lake in Aragatsotn region are also closed.
The roads in Gegharkunik region, the Sisian-Zanger road in Syunik region, and the Saravan-Zanger road in Vayots Dzor region (for trucks with trailers) are difficult to navigate. In the roads of Lori and Syunik regions, and in the roads of Aparan and Aragats regions in Aragatsotn, there are areas of black ice.
Regarding Lars, according to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed due to weather conditions. There are approximately 326 trucks accumulated on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
