David Galstyan Sues Radio Liberty

The chairman of Royalsys Engineering, David Galstyan (Patron Davo), has filed a lawsuit against Radio Liberty and the director of the radio station's Armenian service, Hrayr Tamrazyan. This information has been reported by Armtimes.com based on the Judicial Information System.

Galstyan is seeking compensation for damages to his honor and dignity, as well as a public refutation of what he considers defamatory statements.

The lawsuit was filed on March 9 and has been assigned to Judge Avag Gabrielyan of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction.

Galstyan’s representative, Varazdat Asatryan, stated in an interview with the newspaper that the basis of the lawsuit is that Radio Liberty published misleading information during the February 7 broadcast of "Sunday Analytical with Tamrazyan."

"They claimed that my client is an advisor to the Minister of Defense, which has no relation to reality. David Galstyan has never been an advisor or assistant to any minister. We believe this is an exploitation of the situation and it is necessary to note that this information should at least be denied by the journalist," Asatryan said.

When asked how much compensation they are seeking, Asatryan replied, "We require compensation in the amount of 1 dram. Our principle is that a person's honor and dignity are invaluable, therefore, it cannot be measured by any monetary scale. Thus, we are demanding a symbolic amount."
