16 Vehicles Collide in the Chains of Chayni

Today, on March 12, a chain accident occurred in the Kotayk region due to black ice on the road. Around 08:20, 16 vehicles of various brands collided on the 26 km stretch of the Yerevan-Sevan highway, specifically in the Chayni curves.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reporting from the scene, preliminary information indicates that two individuals were hospitalized with bodily injuries.

Currently, intensified service is being conducted on-site by senior inspectors Tigran Buniatyan and Vardan Varyan from the same unit. Senior investigators Avetik Avetisyan and Mayis Badoyan are also working at the scene. The investigators are preparing materials regarding the fact of the accident.

The emergency rescue service of the Kotayk regional emergency management agency has also promptly arrived at the scene with one combat unit.

Drivers gathered at the scene noted that one of the main causes of the accident was the black ice on the road, and if the road service had timely conducted work on salting and sanding the road, the black ice could have been avoided.

The police are identifying the drivers and the injured parties.
