Will They Accept the President's Invitation? "Zhoghovurd"
President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian has invited the Prime Minister, leaders of parliamentary factions, and heads of the Homeland Salvation Movement to a meeting at the presidential residence on March 13 at 12:00 PM to discuss the current situation and find mutually acceptable solutions to overcome the crisis.
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" attempted to determine the invited parties' stance, but most groups indicated that they would only be able to respond after the discussions. For example, Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the Bright Armenia party, told "Zhoghovurd": "We will discuss the issue in the council, after which we will make a decision and announce that." The representatives of the forces involved in the Homeland Salvation Movement will also discuss this matter.
The position of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan could not be clarified; his spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan has not been responding to our calls for some time. It should be noted that, most likely, all forces will attend since, according to information received by "Zhoghovurd," Pashinyan has already sent messages to political forces in Armenia regarding his intentions, namely that early parliamentary elections will be organized by the end of spring or the beginning of summer, and this will come at the cost of his resignation.
The main topic for discussion with the President will be the details of the elections. Incidentally, the retreat of the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan is also connected to this - he has reached the point of demanding Pashinyan’s resignation; it remains to be officially announced.
This is reported by the newspaper "Zhoghovurd."
