Valentina Matvienko Takes on Mediator Role in Freeing Maral Najaryan, Says Mirzoyan

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, announced on his Facebook page: "Our compatriot Maral Najaryan has been freed from Azerbaijani captivity and is already in Lebanon. In this regard, I would like to thank Valentina Matvienko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia, who responded to the letter initiated by Tatev Hayrapetyan on behalf of all female members of the National Assembly and personally to my request to take on the mediator role in freeing Maral as soon as possible.

I intend to propose to the Council of the National Assembly to award Ms. Matvienko with the Honorary Medal of the National Assembly. I am hopeful that our joint efforts with our colleagues will enable us to return all prisoners of war and captives soon."
