Russian Investigation Committee Launches Posthumous Criminal Case Against Mikhail Khachatryan, Killed by His Daughters

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a posthumous criminal case against Mikhail Khachatryan, as reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the agency's source, a criminal case against Khachatryan has been initiated under Article 132, Part 3 of the RF Criminal Code, which pertains to "violent actions of a sexual nature," Article 133, which refers to "coercion to sexual acts," and Article 117 regarding "torture." The Investigative Committee has not yet commented on the information received.

Earlier, relatives of Mikhail Khachatryan had initiated the criminal case against him, hoping it would help refute allegations made against the deceased, claiming he had committed violent sexual acts against his daughters.

It is recalled that Mikhail Khachatryan's controversial murder occurred in Moscow on July 27, 2018. The body of the 57-year-old man was found at the entrance of a house on Altufevskoe Highway, bearing numerous stab wounds to the neck and chest. His three daughters confessed to having killed their father. Investigations revealed that Khachatryan had subjected his daughters to years of moral and physical abuse.

According to the investigation's hypothesis, his youngest daughter inflicted at least 35 knife wounds to her father's neck and body. The other two daughters struck him on the head. Subsequently, one of the sisters seized the knife from the younger one and stabbed him in the heart. After the murder, the youngest sister called the police herself.

On August 2, 2018, the Ostankinsky District Court in Moscow had remanded the three sisters in custody. On September 27, the Basmanny Court of Moscow approved a petition to replace the sisters' detention with “certain restrictions.” They were placed in separate apartments.
