Preliminary Version of Newborn's Death 15 Minutes After Birth is Intrauterine Infection, Hospital Director Says

On March 10, a newborn died just 15 minutes after birth at the Vayk maternity hospital. The preliminary version of the cause of death is intrauterine infection, according to Robert Aslanyan, the director of the Vayk Medical Association, in an interview with NEWS.am on March 11.

The hospital director stated that an investigation has been initiated: "I do not know what to say yet. An investigation is underway to determine why the child died. Based on preliminary findings, we can say that the amniotic fluid was low and murky. This means that there might have been an intrauterine infection. I cannot say anything else at this moment."

Aslanyan added that the current health condition of the mother is normal.

Earlier, shamshyan.com reported that 25-year-old Hasmik G. from one of the villages in Vayots Dzor province gave birth at the Vayk Medical Association maternity hospital, and the newborn passed away at 03:25.
