Criminal Cases Against Vazgen Manukyan Sent to Prosecutor's Office
The investigation into the criminal cases initiated against Vazgen Manukyan during the rallies held on February 12 and 20, 2021, in Freedom Square has been completed by the Main Investigation Department of the Special Cases Investigation Committee of the Republic of Armenia. These cases involve charges of usurping power, violently overthrowing the constitutional order, and publicly calling for violence.
Previously, it was reported that he was charged under Article 301 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for public calls directed at usurping power, violating territorial integrity, or violently overthrowing the constitutional order. A preventive measure of signature not to leave has been applied in his case.
On March 9, 2021, the charges against Vazgen Manukyan were supplemented with calls he made during a rally held on February 26 in Baghramyan Avenue, which also contained calls for usurping power and violently overthrowing the constitutional order.
The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case, along with an accusatory conclusion, has been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia with a request to confirm the accusation and forward the case to court.
