Why We Won Twice Against the Same Enemy but Lost the Third Time: Senor Hasratyan's Remarks
As on May 12, 1994, and April 5, 2016, we were able to impose a ceasefire on the enemy. This was stated by the former spokesperson of the Artsakh Defense Army, Senor Hasratyan, on his Facebook page. He particularly noted: “However, on November 9, 2020, we were forced to go ourselves to a forced ceasefire and sign a document under which we lost not only significant homeland territories but also our national dignity.
In all three cases, we fought against an Azerbaijani-Turkish alliance and various groups composed of mercenary fighters armed with the most modern weaponry of that time. In the first two cases, we were able to impose our will on the enemy because we had a coordinated and well-thought-out action plan formed between the military and political authorities and, most importantly, our rear was protected from the blows of internal enemies.
But in the third case, we lost... We lost because not only did our right hand not know what the left hand was doing, but also because we had two enemies – internal and external. The problem is that after signing that disgraceful statement, it was not the government, but the thinking segment of our people, concerned about the future of the Motherland, that had to organize the defense of the country on not just two, but several fronts.
P.S. – In this military-political confusion, of course, the army is in the most severe position, since the Constitution designates it to protect the country’s security and territorial integrity. However, facing such a difficult challenge, it is forced to think and act not only in that direction but also to withstand the whims of the random circumstances that have seized power. And without popular support, this will be very difficult.”
