What Biography Does the Acting Chief of the General Staff Stepan Galstyan Have?

Recently, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia announced that the duties of the Chief of the General Staff have been temporarily entrusted to the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Stepan Galstyan.

In 2003, by a decree of the President of Armenia, he was appointed as the head of the Aviation of the Ministry of Defense and the head of the aviation department.

In 2007, by a decree of the President of Armenia, he was awarded the military rank of "Major General".

On January 26, 2009, by a presidential decree, he was appointed as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia.

In 2012, by a decree of the President of Armenia, he was awarded the military rank of "Lieutenant General".

He has held positions as the commander of an aviation squadron, military unit, and later a base.

Education

In 1982, he graduated from the Lightweight Industry Technical School in Gyumri (Leninakan).

In 1988, he graduated from the Higher Military Aviation Pilot School in Armavir.

Other Activities

Service and participation in combat operations: From 1983 to 1992, he served in the USSR armed forces. Since 1992, he has been in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
