The Retribution Against Naira Zohrabyan Continues: ‘Haykakan Jamanak’
Following the removal of Naira Zohrabyan from the position of chair of the National Assembly's Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs Committee on December 29, despite the My Step bloc deciding to act with 'gentlemanliness'—not using the opportunity provided by the parliamentary regulations to take the committee from the opposition and instead suggesting that the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) propose a new candidate, the BHK has not put forth any candidate.
The retribution against Naira Zohrabyan continues. On the same day, they stripped her of her two-room office and assigned her a room located in a secluded area away from the meeting hall on the first floor, depriving her of all the services associated with the committee chair, including the phone package and a service vehicle. Furthermore, Zohrabyan’s driver has also been dismissed from work, whereas in such cases the parliamentary practice usually offers work or provides some time retaining balance within the National Assembly.
