Stepan Galstyan Appointed as Acting Chief of General Staff
General-Lieutenant Stepan Galstyan, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, will temporarily perform the duties of the Chief of General Staff. The information was confirmed in a conversation with Sputnik Armenia by the spokesperson for the Prime Minister, Mane Gevorgyan.
Stepan Galstyan was appointed as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff by a presidential decree on January 26, 2009.
It should be noted that today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Onik Gasparyan has been dismissed from his position as Chief of General Staff by force of law. Pashinyan has appealed to the President of Armenia to appoint Artak Davtyan as the Chief of General Staff, but the President has not yet signed the decree.
