Peskov on the Venue of Putin and Erdogan's Meeting

The venue for the meeting between the Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is yet to be agreed upon between Moscow and Ankara. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, in an interview with TASS.

“It is still unclear,” he responded to the question of whether Erdogan's visit to Russia or Putin's visit to Turkey is possible soon for a face-to-face meeting between the leaders. As emphasized by the Kremlin representative, the details will be “coordinated through diplomatic channels.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, during a televised bridge organized within the framework of the inauguration ceremony of the construction of the third block of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, the President of Turkey expressed hope that a forthcoming face-to-face meeting with the Russian President would take place. Putin responded in agreement, noting that he and Erdogan “haven’t seen each other for a long time.” He added that “it should be done soon.”

Erdogan, for his part, stated that the relations between Russia and Turkey are not limited to bilateral issues only. “The close dialogue we have built plays a key role not only in our bilateral relations but also in maintaining peace and stability in the region. We have seen the tangible results of Turkish-Russian dialogue in many areas—from Libya to Nagorno-Karabakh, from Syria to many other topics,” he said. The Turkish President added that both presidents are “determined to develop cooperation in all directions.”
