‘My Step’ Records That Military Intervention in Politics is Unacceptable: Makunts
The head of the ‘My Step’ faction, Lilit Makunts, stated that she does not associate the events and statements surrounding the army with political processes. Makunts expressed this opinion during a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly.
Today, the dismissed Chief of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan issued a statement announcing that he would appeal to the Administrative Court regarding his dismissal. He also added that he will continue his service to the homeland and the Armenian people in a different capacity.
‘The solutions to these two issues are not related to each other in any way. Moreover, many have raised the question of what capacity Chief of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan envisions serving the people, as he mentioned in today’s statement. We will wait for Gasparyan’s response; I do not want to make assumptions myself,’ said Makunts.
According to her, ‘My Step’ has recorded that military intervention in politics is unacceptable. Makunts noted that it is no coincidence that the OSCE, PACE, the UN, and Russia have reacted, expressing the same opinion.
She also emphasized that regarding the ongoing events in the country, we should not take examples from the speeches of leaders of our enemy state, as this does not benefit our country.
