Artak Davtyan Appointed to Further Dismantle the Army, Says Movses Hakobyan

Following the dismissal of Onik Gasparyan from the Chief of General Staff, his message, the Armed Forces' statement, and the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Artak Davtyan to the Chief of General Staff position, ArmDaily.am posed several questions to the former head of the RA Ministry of Defense's Military Supervision Service, General-Major Movses Hakobyan.

- What is your opinion on the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Artak Davtyan as the Chief of General Staff?
- Bad. He was appointed to dismantle the army and did not manage to do so; now he is being appointed to finish it off.

- Is the Prime Minister aware of this? What do you think?
- Of course, they are acting according to the same plan.

- Are they acting according to a plan?
- Yes, according to the plan.

- That is, dismantling the army?
- Not only the army but also the state.

- Are the military leadership and commanders aware of this?
- I believe the command staff is aware, which is why there has been resistance.

- What developments do you foresee? Will there be clashes?
- I anticipate the destruction of the state.

- Is this an irreversible process?
- If they are putting it that way, that will be the case because what Artak Davtyan has carried out alongside the Prime Minister against the army, I have stated in my words, and I believe their objective is the final disintegration of the Armed Forces and the state.

- If the President signed the decree appointing Artak Davtyan as Chief of General Staff, does that mean he becomes a criminal?
- The institution of the President is a formal institution; it plays no significant role.

- Do you expect any actions from Onik Gasparyan or the military leadership?
- I cannot speak on behalf of Onik.
