I Have No Information Regarding the Presence of Russian Peacekeepers in Ijevan: Hayk Ghalumyan
Several Facebook users have been sharing photos claiming that Russian peacekeepers are roaming and shopping in the Ijevan market. In an interview with ArmDaily.am, Ijevan Mayor Hayk Ghalumyan stated that he has no information regarding the presence of Russian peacekeepers in the community.
“Our community is not a consolidated one; if there were Russian peacekeepers near the borders, no one is obliged to provide me with that information,” he said. He assured that the situation at the border and within the community is peaceful and calm, with no extraordinary situations.
“In any case, reports of tensions in our area have already been refuted several times,” he added.
It is important to note that since yesterday, information has been circulating on social media and various news outlets about a buildup of Turkish-Azerbaijani heavy equipment in the Ijevan and Shamshadin front areas, and an alert declared in the Tavush 3rd Army Corps. The Ministry of Defense denied these reports.
