VIDEO: Azerbaijanis Assault Armenian Youth in Tomsk, Russia
A group of Azerbaijanis assaulted Armenian youths at one of the nightclubs in Tomsk, Russia, allegedly due to their ethnicity. Tigranuhi Melkonian, the sister of the assaulted youths, shared details of the incident in an interview with Tert.am.
“They beat my brothers at that bar, one of whom underwent surgery due to a broken jaw, while my two other brothers suffered serious bodily injuries and a fractured cheekbone,” Tigranuhi Melkonian stated.
The sister of the victims also noted that the Azerbaijanis approached the Armenian youths without any justified reason and demanded that they leave the club. “The Azerbaijanis came up to the table where the Armenians were seated and smashed the hookah, saying ‘Get out of here.’ At that moment, my brothers approached them to understand what was happening and on what grounds they were demanding that the Armenians leave. That’s when the fight broke out, and one of the Azerbaijanis knocked my brother to the ground and began kicking him,” she recounted.
Tigranuhi Melkonian also emphasized that the Azerbaijanis were drinking and shouting, ‘Karabakh is Azerbaijan.’ She mentioned that one of the Azerbaijanis has been arrested, and an investigation is underway since one of the youths has filed a complaint with the police.
