Pashinyan Discusses Prisoners Issue with U.S. Secretary of State

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Pashinyan began by congratulating his counterpart on his appointment to the high office.

Speaking about bilateral relations, Prime Minister Pashinyan highly appreciated the continuous support provided by the United States to Armenia and its role in the OSCE Minsk Group. The parties addressed the situation in the region following the war and emphasized the necessity for the resumption of the peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

Special attention was drawn to the urgent need for the immediate return of prisoners, hostages, and other detained individuals by Azerbaijan. In this context, the U.S. side underlined the importance of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship's activities and expressed its willingness to continue its role in the resolution of the conflict.

The Secretary emphasized the importance of developing partnership relations with Armenia. He highly appreciated the achievements that Armenia has made in the realm of democracy and assured that the U.S. would continue its assistance to Armenia for reforms.

Both sides highlighted the importance of cooperation in strengthening the rule of law, combating corruption, and reforming the justice system and police in Armenia. Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the U.S. side's evaluations and readiness to provide support in the realm of reforms.
