In recent days, we have seen a certain increase in coronavirus numbers, which is concerning, stated the Prime Minister at the start of today’s government meeting. Armenia’s Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan confirmed and presented the state of the coronavirus situation.

“As of yesterday, out of 2922 tests conducted, we have 491 positive cases, which is 16 percent of those tested. In January and February, we had 5-7 percent positive cases among the overall tested. As we see, this number has now risen to 16 percent, and according to our forecasts, this figure will increase next week,” Avanesyan said.

She noted that we must return to strict adherence to mask-wearing and other preventive measures.

“Today, we are resuming the operations of 2 hospitals, currently, we have 865 hospital beds, of which 808 are occupied, and we will increase the number of beds. About 20 percent of cases have a severe course, and around 5 percent have an extremely severe course,” Avanesyan added.

Avanesyan also mentioned that with the increase of movement related to March 8, there will be more activity in shopping centers and hotels, urging to ensure clear supervision in hotels, shopping centers, and transport to maintain preventive measures.
